Fox Hill Kitchens is a bakery based in Vermont that offers a delicious low-carb bread bix and small-batch, sugar-free orange marmalades geared towards customers interested in low or sugar free options.
Owner and co-founder, Julie reached out with an interest in a brand and website refresh. After meeting and chatting about the project, we dove in.

Before
The old logo has a quirky, small-town, hand-crafted vibe to it that we wanted to carry over. It depicts a playful fox jumping over a hill, a play on words as a nod to the founder’s names. The logo also features some other elements like trees and a sun setting in the background.
The company name “Fox Hill Kitchens” can be seen in bold, sans-serif lettering on a banner, with their tagline “Welcome Back To Bread” across the bottom, as well as the “Made in Vermont” statement right below it.
The color scheme is super simple. Just black and white with hand-drawn strokes to keep that artisanal, handcrafted vibe. The logo was only available as a low-resolution raster file.

After
For the new logo we retained the fox jumping over the hill as the main focus, as well as the imperfect, sketchy vibe that we loved so much from the old logo. We used a pointillism technique for the shading on the fox to give it some extra texture while keeping the file vector-friendly.
For the typography we went with the typeface “Montra” from Pixel Surplus. A super fun and chunky sans-serif display font I thought would work well for the rebrand. It’s modern, but not so much that it feels pretentious. Once we settled on the type, I tweaked the kerning, rounded off the corners, and roughened up the edges to give it a hand-sketched look.
The words “Fox Hill” were separated from “Kitchens” to give the logo a sense of hierarchy. Now, “Fox Hill” sits comfortably and below the image of the fox and the hill, while “Kitchens” stays in the banner shape we carried over from the logo.
The new logo feels stronger and more balanced, while staying true to its small-town and handcrafted roots. By simplifying the amount of elements and emphasizing the typography more, we give the logo a much more confident and deliberate appearance, which makes it more recognizable and easier to see.

Responsiveness
In addition to refreshing and vectorizing the logo, we also created a few different sizes to accommodate different modern use cases like favicons and social media avatars.
Color
Fox Hill Kitchens was already using a serviceable color palette with a fresh teal and green combo that could be seen in their packaging, social media and marketing materials. Sometimes all you need to do is one small but very deliberate tweak.
With the green and teal the palette was leaning towards “cool” too much, so to balance it out, we introduced a warm color. What better warm color to introduce other than fox orange?
Fox Orange
By adding Fox Orange to the palette, we now have a color palette that feels fresh, dynamic and usable. It makes for a perfect accent color for button hovers, and contrasts well with white or black text.
Extras
In addition to refreshing their brand, we are also hosting their website. We handled the migration from their old hosting service by providing a package tailored to their needs and saved them a bunch of money in unnecessary costs.
Conclusion
Fox Hill Kitchens is an awesome brand, with a great product and a loyal customer base. It was an honor to have the opportunity to refresh this health food staple and make a small contribution towards its continued success.
